Well, Hello!!

I just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that I am alive and I am NOT pregnant.  Instead I have been swallowed whole by my insanely busy life the last few weeks.  I'm enjoying every minute of it, but I can hear the beach in Cancun calling out to me.  ̶T̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶c̶o̶m̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶S̶u̶n̶d̶a̶y̶ Today I'll be on my way to a much needed 6 day vacation which will include lots of lounging in the sun (with sunscreen, of course) and probably lots of drinking, because it's free.  I'd much rather be prego, but that is unlikely.

During my little hiatus from blogging I made a trip to the doctor and got word that I may be up against endometriosis.  I'm not sure why this hadn't occurred to anyone up until this point, but it's sounding like a definite possibility.  I get HORRIBLY painful cramps when I'm on my period.  I used to miss school because they hurt so bad and they are the reason I was put on the pill so early.  Some how it took nearly a year of being off the pill before the horrible cramps came back, but boy, are they back.  I tend to be the (pretend) tough type.  I don't like to go to the doctor unless I actually feel like I'm dying and I did on cycle day one last month.  This is a whole new kind of pain and I'm really hoping it was a fluke, but I'll just have to wait and see.

I'm all set up to call and make an appointment for my HSG and to get my estradiol tested this cycle.  Too bad I'll be in Mexico!  May will be the month for figuring it all out.  I flip flop between the "oh, we'll just wait and see" and "this needs to happen now through whatever means necessary" attitudes.  I'm curious to see who wins this one.  My tests will definitely be part of the deciding factors.  To clomid or not to clomid.  That is probably the next question.

A few pics from last year.  We're so glad to be back here!  I'll have a marg for you all, or 10!  :)

  1. Ugh about the period cramps but yay for cancun! A beach trip sounds awesome!

If you decide to go the clomid route, two suggestions... 1: request (no, demand) a full blood work up to cover anything you haven't already gotten (though you might have gotten these), e.g., your FSH/LH ratio, prolactin, and androgen levels (any one of those being off would make clomid moot)... 2: request (no, demand) that they monitor you (with ultrasound and/or bloodwork) to see if the clomid is doing anything for you. Many OBs are a big fan of unmonitored clomid, but clomid doesn't work for everyone, and sometimes it works sooooo well that you want to be prepared for the possibility of twins. Basically, being monitored tells you whether you need to up the dose, lower the dose, or just keep trying... which is loads better than the "try this each cycle and come see me in six months" approach

Anyway I hope you can forget some of this crap while in cancun... which have I already mentioned sounds pretty awesome??!
